It goes on

More snow again today but now its everywhere, the whole of the UK seems to be under the spell of winter and you are probably getting bored with snow scenes but just for the record
We haven't left home for over a week but are managing on what we have in the house, gradually emptying the freezer, running out of fresh fruit and veg but basically doing fine and we could get out if we were desperate. I heard on the news that there is panic buying in England, one person spotted purchasing 17 loaves of bread whilst shops run out of supplies. Sometimes I despair of the human race.
Mr FF continues to clear the snow, the postie and the milkman are walking into our road, life goes on and I've kept myself busy in the house, so busy in fact that I can't hoover or clean much more, I've even had my crevice tool in corners that didn't know I owned a hoover.
So on a brighter note I've been knitting socks with the Regia yarn I got on sale at Kemps, an absolute bargain at £1.20 per 50g ball, such cheerful wool I've just ordered some more, well if I can't get to the shops I must do my panic buying on line.

  5. Heavens above! I heard that people were stockin up on canned soup. It is embarassing!

Here in London we have a thimble full of snow but everything has ground to a halt. We had more snow at home in the North East over Christmas and we managed to get there, celebrate and drive back to London with out any drama at all!

Glad you are all snugged up warm. Also - sock are wonderful! I was given wool, needles and a pattern to teach myself sock knitting. HAve to say, I'm a little weary, looks so complicated!

I like the ever increasing snow on your picnic table!

  8. Fabulous socks, Jenny - I could do with a pair of those - can't remember the last time we had such cold weather down here in Devon! Your comment about your crevice tool made me shriek with laughter!

  9. Love your socks! I stocked up with the Kemps' bargain Regia too! It washes and wears really well. It has snowed again down here, but not quite enough to give us a 'snow day'. I know I shouldn't be thinking like that, when we have only been back at school for three days, but an unexpected 'snow day' means only thing..... cosy warm house, Christmas cake remains and knitting!!!!! Here's hoping! Ros

  10. Lovely socks! They look so cosy just the thing for this chilly weather. It sounds like you're so resourceful up there and such difficult conditions; not like us silly Londoners who get excited about a snowflake or two.

I'm really enjoying your pictures, especially the gorgeous icicles.

    Take care. x

  12. Those colorful and cosy socks are just the thing for now! It's almost too much snow now, isn't it? I so sympathize... We've been having the same dumping of snow here too. It is -20 C today...bbbrrr... Good knitting weather, though... LOL! Keep warm and spirits up, Jenny :o) ((HUGS))

  13. Yet more colourful socks on a blog post, lovely they all are too.
The snow? Well, we haven't seen the garden for weeks now, it has always been under a thick coating of frost or a coating of icy frost over a smattering of compacted snow. We had a couple of inches of pure white stuff overnight, a mini blizzard this morning covered the road and left another inch, it is bitterly cold, but apart from no buses seeming to be running, life goes on, husband struggles to work getting there late even though he leaves ever earlier, but everyone is in the same boat. It was lovely at first, and I do love snow, but now I am finding I wish it would stop....

  14. I will never tire from seeing snow pictures!! Even though we live in northern Ontario (Canada) and are covered in snow all winter, I never get fed up with looking at it!! Snow covers a multitude of sins and make the world a prettier place while it's here.
I love your socks. It's a good thing you have yarn to keep you occupied while you're snowed in!!If you didn't have that, you may have to find more things to clean!!!
