Mr FF was away on business for the first half of this week, giving me lots of time to myself, it was far too wet to be outside so I thought I'd crack on with the cake and it is a nice feeling to have it wrapped and tucked away in a tin to mature.I also made this Christmas tree hat for Amelia, it is an appropriate shade of green and not the blue it looks on the photo. I'm not sure if it isn't wrong to make a newborn wear something so ridiculous but I'll send it down to her soon in case she is one of those people who likes to start the madness early.
So now just the cards, shopping, wrapping, delivering, decorating, menu planning and getting into my usual bah humbug state of mind - Christmas is sorted.
The cake loves yummy. I've decided not to make one this year as I'm the only here who eats it. I'm sure Amelia will love her festive hat.
ReplyDeleteThat should say "LOOKS yummy"!
ReplyDeleteVery nice, both.

mmmmm cake!
ReplyDeletewhat a cute hat... and can i have a piece of that cake? ;)
ReplyDeleteI used to check on your blog regularly, but then my computer crashed and I lost of my bookmarks. I just happened upon you today and have spent enjoyable time reading your blog. Your story about the ring is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteYum, I love Christmas cake! Are you going to feed the cake over the coming weeks? The little hat is very cute - luckily children can get away with such crazy designs!
ReplyDeleteNice blog, I've just stumbled in here by accident. That cake looks delish, and has reminded me to get a move on and make one myself!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing story about finding your ring after all these years! It's quite inspirational really!

I agree with Liz, the cake looks really yummy.
ReplyDeleteSo good to have chuckle on a Sunday morning! Your cake looks wonderful. I have to admit to buying an M and S 'ice and decorate yourself' version. That little hat is very cute though and I'm sure Amelia will approve! Ros
ReplyDeleteThe cake looks delicious...and the hat too!
ReplyDeleteI'm sensing a full jar of "Bah Humbugs" here! That cake does look lovely - but poor Amelia!! Just dont take any photos of her - my 17 year old does not find it amusing when we show her mates what we used to dress in her in!!
ReplyDeleteI think the Christmas Tree hat is charming. We gave our god-daughter a little Christmas Pudding hat when she was 11 months old and she looked very cute in it. I think it's since been passed about between family and friends! x
ReplyDeleteThe Christmas Tree Hat looks like it would fit atop the cake perfectly ;)
ReplyDeleteOh, I had to smile, Jenny... I'm not a very Christmas-y person either! :o) I know hard to believe maybe...LOL! ;o) Normally I'm a well organized person, good at planning...but Christmas planning and making ready was never my strong point, so I can very much relate! Let's have a slice of your cake now, shall we? ;o) It looks supberb! Nothing like real English Christmas cake for the holidays. I love it, and should have a go at it sometime. That Christmas tree had is adorable--love that! Happy week, Jenny! ((HUGS)) Oh, and thanks for joining in on my giveaway fun--great to see you there! :o)
ReplyDeleteWould there be any chance of you sharing your cake recipe? I don't think I've ever seen a Christmas cake that looks that good!!
ReplyDeleteIt is never wrong to make a newborn wear something ridiculous (not that the hat is ridiculous - personally I'd wear it if it fitted)!
ReplyDeleteIt's a rite of passage. Amelia will understand when she grows up and will pass on the tradition.
