As forecast the snow is here, we woke to a white world this morning and it has continued to come down on and off all day. Its almost dark now, pretty views through the windows whilst we are warm, cosy and well stocked with provisions.
Mr FF decided not to venture into Edinburgh to attend an early evening committee meeting, I'm sure they will manage fine without him and it saves me worrying about his journey. When I was working I hated the winter road conditions, I could easily spend the day fretting about how and if I would get home.
I totally empathise with anyone who has to travel in bad weather but I am beginning to appreciate how a covering of snow can make the world a beautiful place and provide a legitimate reason for staying in. I'm not on the turn though, still a summer flip flop wearing girl at heart and hoping there won't be snow on Saturday as we need to be in Edinburgh for a winter wedding.
We've only had a few flakes here in north Norfolk, but it was enough to send the kids completely crazy!! Hope you stay all snug.
ReplyDeleteWe have a little more than a smattering here too. The roads are trecherous. It would be better next week when we are all off school/college/work. xxxx
ReplyDeleteWe're still waiting for our first proper snow. we did have a couple of flakes yesterday but literally that was all - it was enough to get A (4 1/2 yrs) quite excited though!
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful pictures.

We've had a decent fall of snow here. The cat initially refused to go outside but has now decided he rather likes running about in it.
ReplyDeleteHere in my part of north Norfolk we had the predicted 'significant' snowfall last night, accompanied by gales... most unpleasant, but left us with a thick covering of snow. I have blogged about it as well, over on the pfgs.blogspot.com for anyone interested.
ReplyDeleteOhhh It looks so pretty, (says I sitting here in the warmth) but it would be nice to experience a white xmas at least once in my lifetime..........
ReplyDeleteGood luck for the wedding.......

Oooh - I'm SO jealous! We've just had an ice sugar sprinkling in West London. Enjoy being cosy at home! x
ReplyDeleteSnow covers a multitude of sins!! We have a lot right now but then this is Canada and it doesn't thaw till April or May. Sometimes it will start in March but not really go till then.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the wedding and traveling!
Luckily we've been dodging the weather bullet and have had virtually no snow, but we did have mind numbing freezing temperatures for quite a few days. But I do want a White Christmas! I shall be most disappointed if we don't get one! Hope all is well for traveling on Saturday.
ReplyDeleteeveryone's got so much snow! loving all the snow pictures out there in blogland today.
ReplyDeleteIt snowed down here during the night. Over a hundred schools in the county were closed. Ours is a city centre school and seldom closes. It was a magical last day of term, as the children played in the snow and made snow sculptures. I opened the curtains to our white world this morning, to see two foxes playing on the lawn. We jut managed to grab a camera in time! It made my day! Have a lovely weekend. Ros
ReplyDeleteI love freshly fallen snow. Winter wonderland is the phrase that really springs to mind.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I don't like it out there the day after. The lovely snow becomes compacted and icy and the snow on the roads look dirty with oil and grit.
We had a solid 3 inches of yesterday. The chickens were not amused, although they did relax later on and have a bit of fun when they realised they could eat it.
Lots of snow in Italy! Love the view from your weekend!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a wonderful Christmas!
Hope the winter wedding went well? We finally had snow here over the weekend. It seemed like everyone else in the country was getting snow, except us. The only thing is the ice! Walking along the pavements is treacherous. I love the snow, just love it!
