Can't stop I'm knitting

It seems the more Christmas gifts I knit the more I need to knit. I've been making lots of little extra gifts to put into parcels and its turned into a knitting frenzy. I used up quite a lot of three ply pure wool on lacy scarves and some unidentified yarn produced an interesting texture using just stocking stitch. With scarves I just knit until all the yarn is used up, I don't think they can be too long or too short and it gives the wool a purpose in life.
I've made another pair of fetching fingerless gloves, I never tire of this pattern
and two pairs of socks with wool that was on offer in Lidl, much cheaper than Opal, same 75% wool content, though perhaps not quite such interesting patterns.
Now I'm thinking Amelia might like a little cardigan, my brother could do with some socks, must make something for Mr FF's stocking, it goes on. Still the fire is lit, its too cold to be outside, in fact we might even get a light dusting of snow later, so back to the needles, Santa would be proud of me.

  1. I so wish I wouldn't feel guilty when I sit down to knit! Here, it seems, there's always something that needs to be done and has priority (like washing the dishes, hanging up the wet laundry, watering the plants outside, dumping some garbage, sweeping the terrazzo, walking the dog... Maybe I wish it WOULD snow, so I'd have a good excuse to be stuck inside :). Happy knitting!

  3. Hi! Do I need to call the fire brigade to cool things down?!

  4. Wow, how long did all that take you? I love the scarves - the lacy pattern is so delicate and beautiful and the colours and texture of the "unidentified yarn" are lovely and rich.
I like the green and blue stripey socks too. Someone told me Lidl were going to be doing a wool offer, but I forgot to go and check it out at the time, although, at the rate my crochet & knitting efforts are going I've enough yarn to last me years already (about 10 balls!)

  5. Gosh, you've been amazingly busy! I bought some needles this weekend, and a ball of wool, with the aim of learning to knit before Christmas (not sure I'll be up to your speed for production for some time yet!!).

  6. Goodness! You've been busy! I know what you mean about wanting to knit more tho' - now that I've started making mini-stockings, the number of people I've got lined up to receive one has increased exponentially!

  8. Like Diane, I always feel so guilty sitting to knit. I can do it in the evening, that doesn't seem so guilt inducing but to sit in the day has me guilting ( I know that's not a word!)like crazy!!
I have finished all my Christmas knitting. Three boys sweaters, hoodies actually. One little girls dress, two little girls cardigans, two baby sweaters hat and scarf sets, one afghan, requested by one grandson for his room, three scarves, two little girls sweater hat and scarf sets and I think that's all!!! I have ten grandchildren and one great grandson so there's a lot to knit for!!
It's been snowing all day here so guilt inducing or not, it's been good knitting weather!!!

  9. Love those fingerless gloves. Lucky people to be getting these presents. That Lidl's wool looks great. I had fantastic Christmas craft packs from there last year and also some great silicone cake trays....... I do love a bargain and there are some great ones to be had there. :O)

  10. Scarves are so easy to do aren't they? You can make up your own pattern, use one from a book, decided what wool, needles and number of stitches to use, and away you go..... and warm scarves, like bedsocks, are always welcome I find.

  12. I love those soft scarves. I noticed that you made socks from yarn from Lidl. If they were made from yarn you bought this Autumn, you might like to read some comments on Ravelry about washing them. It seems hand-washing is best as the yarn tends to felt in the machine. Some people have taken their purchases back to the store!

  13. I really wish that I had the time to knit, I used to years ago. There are too many other things getting in the way now.

I have just caught up with your blog. I loved the knitted icons birthday card!

  15. The lacy scarves are beautiful, so pretty. Are they easy to knit? I haven't graduated off dish cloths yet but I'm looking for something else to try! If I start now I might have one finished by next winter!!
